Alain English is an actor and a poet based in London. He has extensive experience acting on stage in a wide variety of roles, most notably as King James in “5/11” and Mark Antony in “Julius Caesar” (both Network Theatre) as well as Hotel Porter in “The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas” (Sedos Theatre). In 2017, Alain played William Butler Yeats in “The Playboy Riots” (Bread and Roses and Hen and Chickens Theatre) and then in 2018 played the role of the Prince in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the Stockwell Playhouse.
Alain is also a former member of “Stealth Aspies”, an autistic-led theatre company and has produced and consulted on autistic-based theatre in the past. Alain also works with support workers instructing them about supporting people with autism/Asperger’s Syndrome.
In addition he is Artiste-in-Residence at the Tea House Theatre in Vauxhall, where he founded Paper Tiger Poetry and regularly performs in rehearsed readings and one-man shows, his most recent of which was ‘The Raven and Other Tales by Edgar Allan Poe’.
He has also written and published three books – an autobiography ‘An Asperger Actor’ (Chipmunka Publishing) and two volumes of poetry ‘Outside In: Musing on Life as an Autistic Poet’ and ‘English is a Foreign Language’ (WCH Publishing).
